DJI Lito 1 & Lito X1 β the new sub-249g line, explained for India
DJI just dropped two new drones that quietly solve the single biggest friction in Indian drone buying: the DGCA RPC. Both the Lito 1 and Lito X1 weigh under 249 grams, which puts them in the DGCA Nano category β no registration, no pilot certificate, no exam. You fly. Here's what you need to know.
What's new
DJI's Lito line slots between the Mini and Mavic families. It's aimed at first-time pilots, content creators, wedding shooters, real-estate marketers, and travel photographers β anyone who wants genuine 4K aerial work without buying their way into the enterprise pricing tier.
Two SKUs: the Lito 1 (βΉ38,990 base, βΉ54,990 Fly More Combo) and the flagship Lito X1 (βΉ48,990 base, βΉ66,990 Fly More Combo with the RC 2 touchscreen controller). Both ship in the global rollout that started 23 April 2026.

The DGCA Nano advantage (the part India cares about)
India's drone rules split aircraft into five weight classes: Nano (β€250 g), Micro (250 g β 2 kg), Small (2 β 25 kg), Medium (25 β 150 kg), and Large. Above the Nano line, you need a Unique Identification Number (UIN), pilot registration, and for commercial use, a commercial-drone competency β which means a DGCA-approved course (roughly βΉ18,000 and 5 days of your life).
Stay under 249 g and the entire compliance stack disappears for non-commercial hobby flying. No RPC, no UIN, no DigitalSky registration for your aircraft. You still respect no-fly zones and airspace rules β but the paperwork is gone. That's the reason the Mini line outsold every other DJI SKU in India for three straight years.
Important caveat: if you're flying for paid work (wedding videography, commercial real-estate, any monetised content), DGCA treats it as commercial activity, which means you need an RPC regardless of aircraft weight. If that's you, we'd bundle the Lito with our 5-day commercial-drone skills program (RPC pathway via partner RPTO) β see training.
Who should buy which
Buy the Lito 1 (βΉ38,990) if you:
- Are brand new to drones and want the cheapest way into 4K aerial
- Shoot for Instagram/YouTube and don't need LiDAR-precise low-altitude flying
- Travel often and want a drone that fits a jacket pocket
- Already have a phone you're happy to use as the controller screen (RC-N3)
Buy the Lito X1 (βΉ48,990) if you:
- Shoot paid work (weddings, real estate, brand content) and want the larger 1/1.3" sensor for low-light
- Fly indoors, in dense areas, or at low altitude where LiDAR pays its way
- Want 52-minute flights for sunset-to-blue-hour sessions (Plus battery)
- Prefer a built-in touchscreen controller (the Fly More Combo's RC 2)
Skip it if you need⦠a telephoto camera (get the Air 3S), Hasselblad-grade color (Mavic 3 Pro), or enterprise-grade mapping (Matrice 350).
Fly More Combo β is it worth it?
Almost always yes. The standard Lito ships with one battery and the base controller. The Fly More Combo adds two extra batteries (108 minutes of total flight on the Lito 1, 104 on the X1 Plus), a charging hub, ND filters (8/16/32/64), spare props, and a shoulder bag. If you're going to buy those accessories anyway β and you will β the combo saves you about βΉ8,000ββΉ12,000. On the X1 combo you also get the RC 2 controller with a bright built-in screen, meaning you're not flying with a phone exposed to the sun.
